PERSONAL HISTORY

            Jan  was born in Thomasville, Georgia. She traveled extensively around the U.S. as the daughter of a U.S. Marine Corps pilot. As a child, her natural talent in art was cultivated and encouraged by her mother, Mary Frances Rushin Middleton. Jan earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Painting at the University of Texas in Austin. She was a cofounder of the Artists Coalition of Austin in 1992. Jan is currently a full time painter based in Austin, Texas
